Jesus is alive

First reading: Acts 3:11-26
Psalm: Psalms 8:2, 5-9
Gospel reading: Luke 24:35-48

Luke 24:35-48

35Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. 36As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them. 37But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit.38And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts?39See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 41And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate before them. 44Then he said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 46and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.48You are witnesses of these things.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus appears to the disciples and show them that He really is alive. Jesus understand that His resurrection is beyond our human comprehension and the disciples need some prove that He is really alive, so He asked for some food to eat.

How about us, do we really believe that He is alive? Or was Easter just a story we hear every year?

Later on Peter and the other disciples gave their testimony about Jesus to the people of Israel.
He spoke based on his experience with God, so all of us would believe too.

God is as alive and present now as He was during the disciples’ time. His Holy Spirit is guiding us if only we would try to listen. Sometimes the noice in our mind and surrounding makes it very difficult for us to hear. Allocate some time for God so that we can hear His voice and listen to what He wants to say to us. Ask Him what His plan in our day today. Tell Him, our struggles and joy. After all, He can see our past, present and future too. He is the best person to talk to when you needed some guidance.

May He lived in you and me today and everyday so that we can be a testimony to other people of God’s love. Amen.
